Grandma's Funeral, 14th October 2009
Everyone has been telling us how Grandma left. Sorry Grandma, you didnt get to see Tianli. ): Apparently, her heart stops beating and the machine goes from "beep beep beep" to "beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep" when someone told her "Tianli lai le".
We found out alot of interesting stuff after Grandma passed away. Marc's chinese name is Tian Li, his male cousins from the male side of the family, those "nei sun" (internal grandchildren)'s chinese names are also Tian something, etc Tian Xin, Tian Shun, Tian Hock.
Together, their last chinese character form a sentence, from the eldest grandson to the youngest which is marc. That was Grandpa's instructions to name the grandchildren.
The sentence is "Hock Kian Sim Teck Chuan Heng Shun Li" In chinese, "Fu Jian Xin De Quan Xing Shun Li" Meaning the whole Hokkien Clan be blessed with happiness and smooth sailing life. ( ithink) We also know about the piece of land back in China, building of the ancestral hall and all.
The white coffin was really beautiful, it has pretty laces inside.

After a while I realised Marc aint the one carrying the coffin anymore but I couldnt see him anywhere cuz there was simply too many people. Then on the bus to Mandai, he told me his slippers dropped halfway so his cousin took over him. So silly!
Mandai. Our last service and prayer. Then we took turns to put flowers inside the coffin.

He did not even have a single day of Compassionate Leave. NOT A SINGLE DAY. Because of this, he has to be deem as the unfilial grandson. He only get to rush down to hospital around 6 plus last wed halfway during work but it was already too late. Everyone thinks that he should be able to take 5 days of CL and his cousins in NS has 5 days of CL thats why they dont understand why marc has to go back camp. Even Mel has CL even though she's only an intern for the company, not a full timed staff. Marc's only a NS man so not entitled to CL. &%^^$%R%&*%$^%%^&
I thought govt jobs focus alot on welfare and benefits blah blah blah, okie oh well, lemme say this again, SPF did not grant marc A SINGLE DAY OF COMPASSIONATE LEAVE. My poor baby has to go funeral after night shift then continue there for a few days. Only slept a few hours here and there for these 5 days. They gave reasons why she isnt his immediate family and more rubbish, Grandma's IC is marc's address? See the relations? They grow up tgt in the same house. Its really frustrating that SPF's side doesnt wanna to grant him any leave and no one seems to believe nor understand. NS men are not humans huh? They dont deserve to be excuse for family matters huh?
(im gonna delete these few parts abt CL after a few days, dont wanna go to jail for telling the truth abt u know what)
